Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is known for his hard-edged characters and wisecracking characters in action films. He has appeared in more than $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein in West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) they were living at the United States military base. The family relocated to America soon following his birth. He was raised in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother worked as a bank clerk and his father was an electrician as well as a worker in an industrial facility. Willis picked up an interest for drama in high school and was "discovered" when he was working at an establishment located in New York City and then appeared in a couple of off-Broadway productions. He was working as a bartender one night when a casting manager noticed his charisma and asked for him to serve as the bartender for a small movie. Willis was part of numerous auditions prior to getting the role in the popular romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His sarcastic, wisecracking P.I. is one of the most memorable of his career. Some see it as an exercise to practice for Willis his role in Die Hard (1988), where he single-handedly defeated the gang of thieves in an Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his character in the role of McClane. The story was set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim an unjust South American general. A record-breaking box office performance prompted the sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) and this time co-starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cynical Harlem shop owner unwittingly thrust into assisting McClane during a terrorist bombing campaign during a hot day in New York.
