Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of Sandra Kay
(Gale), Nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is an auto driver and furniture
mover. Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel started acting at
thirteen. She was already acting in Shakespearean plays in summer theater
camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
After making her debut on the Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) and
co-starred on the Canadian TV show Slings and Arrows (2003) in a comedy-drama
focusing on the trials and travails of an Shakespearean theater group. She won
the Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her breakthrough role as Regina
George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly made her a part of the
short list of the top Hollywood's young actors. In the following film, she
starred opposite Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas
Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a huge success in the
box-office and became the most loved romantic drama for the young crowd.
McAdams was introduced to Gosling while filming. They were a couple until the
middle of 2007. McAdams was then able to showcase her talents in the screen
with the raunchy comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the action thriller Red Eye
(2005), and the Christmas drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then took on
the world of independent films with Married Life (2007), that debuted at the
Toronto Film Festival and also featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and
Patricia Clarkson. Following her roles in The Lucky Ones, a military drama
State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams also starred
alongside Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global blockbuster
Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the plucky producer of Morning Glory (2010). She
also played the materialistic fiancee Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in
Paris (2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama with The Vow (2012), in which
she was a co-star with Channing Tatum. McAdams also appears alongside Terrence
Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace is Passion (2012) in
Brian De Palma's thriller.
