Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the child of British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer, as well as Chris Watson, a teacher from Paris, France. When she was five years older, she moved to Oxfordshire where she went to Dragon School. Emma was aware of her desire to perform since when she was six years old. She trained for several years in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her dancing, singing, and acting. At the age of 10 Emma was already performing acting in Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999, casting started for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) which was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consecutive auditions, David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were chosen to play Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. Emma's first cinematic screen appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). It was also the most popular film of 2001 in terms of weekend and opening-day sales. The film was praised by critics and the performances of three young actors who were the most prominent. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper with a huge circulation, called her performance "admirable". Emma received the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film in the same year, and was nominated for five prizes. Following the debut film of the highly successful series, Emma became one of the most famous actresses in the world. In the ten years that followed she played the part as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011).
